Happy Mardi Gras!
As you can tell from the pictures, Mardi Gras came to Lovers Lane this year. We threw a mini-gras party,
since it was John's first Mardi Gras - we couldn't resist. We made sausage and shrimp gumbo over the weekend, and had it for
leftovers, along with shrimp po' boys, on Mardi Gras day. We also decorated our house with Mardi Gras colors and got out some
leftover beads from years past to get in the spirit. Phil also tried to make a Mardi Gras colored "onesie" for John, which
you can see one of the pictures on the "John Wesley" page. He used fabric paint and painters tape, but just ended up shellacking
it, instead of making a wearable onesie! Oh well, the best laid plans...
The other big news is that John has his first tooth. It showed up (no pun intended) over the weekend and
is already quite sharp. He's sleeping through night pretty good and is sitting up under his own power, though he
hasn't tried to crawl yet. He wants to get up and go, but just doesn't quite know how to do it yet. At our last doctor's
visit, which was back in January, he weighed nearly 18 pounds and is on track as far as his growth and development are concerned.
So, all in all his pediatrician gave him a clean bill of health at his six month checkup.
We're going to Kansas City this weekend, since Shannon and Gran's spring break overlaps. We'll write again
after we get back and put up some more pictures.
Take care,
Phillip, Shannon, John Wesley, and Pinto
